About the Vanna's Choice: it wasn't really bad quality for acrylic yarn, and actually it's softer than many acrylics like Red Heart, etc. I did have some bad luck with one skein of it--the yarn was frayed a bit in places and there were a few bumpy spots. I think I've just been spoiled by other yarns. :) But if you want to use acrylic, it's definitely an economical choice (it was really cheap, and like I said, pretty soft knitted up).
